I graduated from Grant MacEwan University with my paralegal diploma right after high school. Shortly after that, I went to work in a large downtown law firm in the real estate field. I worked as a real estate conveyancer for 9 years until I gave birth with my first son.
Instead of going back to the law firm after my maternity leave, I started a gift/antique business and had stores in Edmonton and Calgary. I owned, managed and worked these stores for 14 years till 2008 when the Alberta economy was booming and it was tough to keep retail staff from pursuing more lucrative options. By then, I had already obtained my real estate license and had built up a large database for my new business and my staff was running the stores. When I was put in the position to choose one or the other, I had made the decision to focus on what I truly loved to do which was my real estate business and build on that.
It’s been over 20 years and I haven’t looked back and have won numerous awards yearly on my performance and commitment to the industry.
With my conveyancing and business background, I find myself understanding a lot more of the process that most of my colleagues. Every year is more exciting and enjoyable than the last.
